The title of this post was taken from the song Alice by Avril Lavigne.
Christmas and New Year's have come and gone. We had a wonderful Christmas and then had a great time in Arizona visiting John's family. I had a few posts that were dedicated to Christmas and New Year's but really it just boiled down to spending time with family and everything else was just an added bonus. I'll post about a few of the highlights from our trip over the next few weeks.
I thought about making New Year's Resolutions, but I'm not sure I will this year. I always do the typical ones lose weight and get healthy, get organized, blah blah blah. This year I am starting the year with all those things on my radar, but I'm not setting myself up for failure by putting in place harsh rules or guidelines that will make me feel like a failure the first time I don't do something I've made a resolution about. One thing I want to do more of is blog everyday. I read this blog and I love her daily posts and updates. Darrell your recent return to blogging has inspired this as well :) I want to post something everyday. One of my goals in the next few months is to use Blurb to turn my blog posts from the last two years into a personal book. They will print your blog into book format and I think this will be an awesome way to have a written record of everything we have been through since April of 2011. I wish it hadn't taken Mike's passing for me to realize how important it is to keep a journal/diary/blog or something that keeps track of our lives.
So, Happy New Year to everyone and I'll leave you with one of my favorite quotes.
"May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams
and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and
kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't
forget to make some art -- write or draw or build or sing
or live as only you can. And I hope,
somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.”
