Movin' To The Country

The title of this post was taken from the song Peaches by The Presidents of The United States of America.

Ice cream and rabbits. What could be better than that? Okay...we ate homemade ice cream today and were given two rabbits. Maybe I should just start from the beginning. John got an ice cream maker for Christmas (from his adorably beautiful wife ;) so, over the last week, he made several kinds of ice cream butter almond, swiss chocolate, and strawberry. We enjoyed it after church today. It was so very good.

Then we took the kids to their Papaw Dawson's house to pick up the rabbit cage he built for Tyler and the two rabbits he bought for her. Tyler could barely contain her excitement. I love Johnny and he loves the kids so much. Here is a conversation we had on Christmas Eve, it had been about five months since I had seen him.

Me: "I should let you know I got married in October."

"I had heard something like that. Why didn't he come with you?"

"Well, I thought I should let you know before I brought him up here."

"Why?"

"I think some people felt I got married too soon and I wasn't sure what you would think."

"Melanie, it's no one's damn business. Bring him up next time. I'm happy for you."

I seriously could have cried at that moment. I knew then that he loved me unconditionally and that he wanted me to be happy. Today as we were leaving I gave him a hug and he leaned over and kissed the top of my head.

"I love you Johnny."

"I love you too. Bring the kids up next Sunday."

"I will."

Here is a picture of the rabbit cage he built for Tyler, the rabbits are hiding out inside.
